HEY! WE’RE MICHAEL & KAREN…
We’re lucky to be running a business in the Personal Development industry, an industry we’re both passionate about. Being born and bred in Rural Australia, our younger years were spent living in various areas across Australia. Being country folk at heart, we now call home a little farm in Wooragee, Victoria. Karen has spent her life, working in childcare and in a family manufacturing business.
I, Michael have worn many hats throughout my life. Roles ranging from baker and bakery owner to sales rep, trainer, truck driver, cattle station hand and even postie. Funny enough, our paths almost crossed 20 years ago and fate brought us together more recently, turning life into an exciting and rewarding journey.
We have alpacas, chooks, a big garden, cats. There is never a dull moment! Karen and I have not only connected personally, but have joined professional forces, with shared goals we run a business that allows us to live life on our own terms and build something we’re truly proud of.
We’ve found a business that ticks every box: freedom, growth, and family time.
THE PROBLEM THAT LED US HERE: Timing really is everything! We met while I was working in transport and walked into Karen’s family business, a portable sawmill manufacturing company in regional Victoria.
Karen had loved her career in early childhood education, inspiring kids as they grew and learned, but eventually stepped into the family business after starting her own family. I had spent years as a baker. I moved into training and development and later ran my own franchise.
Retail changes made it tough on small business owners which led me back into transport. As fate would have it, back into Karen’s office! When we joined forces, we both knew we had it in us to successfully run a business together. But we wanted one that ticked all the boxes!
WHEN WE KNEW IT WAS TIME FOR A CHANGE: We’ve both had our fair share of ups and downs in business over the years and those experiences taught us a lot. But we reached a point where we knew the old paths just didn’t suit us anymore.
In childcare, Karen saw the regulations piling up, the hours stretching longer and the freedom and financial reward slipping away. I no longer wanted to work away from home and after dealing with toxic environments, I knew exactly what industries I wanted to avoid.
What we did know was that we were passionate about working towards goals, that we could work well together and that portability mattered with elderly parents nearby and kids and grandkids interstate. Finding a business that ticked all the boxes has been the biggest blessing in this exciting new chapter of life.
THE MINDSET THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING:
Karen’s journey into Personal Development began during a tough chapter in her life after going through a divorce. Feeling pretty lost, she took a mindfulness course that helped her get centered, let go of the past and start fresh.
My path looked a little different. I had not focused directly on Personal Development, but years in the baking trade coaching and training others gave me a real passion for seeing people succeed. Add to that, 35 years of playing footy, which was all about mindset and coaching.
I was always looking for ways to better myself. Since starting this business together, the personal growth we’ve both experienced has been nothing short of phenomenal. It’s shown us first hand the kind of results that come when you put the right mindset behind everything you do.

THE BUSINESS THAT FELT LIKE HOME: The business we found has not only given us the financial results and the flexibility we were looking for, it’s given us so much more. From day one it felt like family. The support, positivity, and encouragement here are unlike anything we’ve seen in other businesses. Everyone’s wins are celebrated, and quickly, you realise we’re all rowing in the same direction.
Growing up in the country, there wasn’t much hugging. But here, everyone hugs. At every company event we attend, it just gets better and better! After years of generating income in traditional businesses and watching it disappear in expenses, it’s been a pleasant surprise to create a high level of income without all the outgoings.
We’re now part of an international business expanding into countries around the globe. We’re so grateful for the easily duplicatable system. This business not only sets us up for success, but it is also portable. We can pick up the laptop, travel while conducting business, catching many more footy games and never worry about missing out on family events.
